Villa Santai is a boutique style holiday accommodation suitable for surfers, fisherman and couples looking for a unique holiday experience. We are located on the white sands of Nemberala Beach Rote Island directly in front of the world class left hander T-Land.

Accomodation

Offering a tropical atmosphere and beachfront setting, Villa Santai presents a great getaway located in Nemberala Village. Nemberala is a quiet and peaceful village offering good waves, beautiful beaches and good fishing.
Owner Dean and his wife live on site to assist you with any daily enquiries and offer guidance and advice. Along with accommodation you will be provided with 3 meals a day, enough to satisfy those out surfing all day. They cater for everyone's need serving delicious Indonesian/western cuisine. For those that need their caffine fix, no worries, tea and coffee are complimentary.

Villa Santai has 3 spacious bungalows and can accommodate 7 people; ensuring your privacy and our personal attention. Besialu bungalow is the largest of the 3 bungalows and can accommodate 1 couple and 1 child, or 3 singles. The other 2 Bungalows can be double or twin share depending on what guests require. All rooms have a remote control fan,tv, dvd, security box and a small bar fridge.

The Surf

If you dream of paradise in search of the perfect wave, Rote is your destination. There you will find a world-class set of waves to enjoy with friends and family. Well away from the crowds found in other Indonesian islands, Rote offers you the renowned quality and comfort that makes the Indonesian archipelago one of the best holiday spots in the world. From March to November, dry season and winter in the Southern hemisphere, the wind blows South-Southwest coming from South Africa towards Australia. That is when the Indian Ocean turns into a factory of waves and dreams. The winds are off-shore, East-Southeast trade winds. And unlike in other islands in the archipelago, you will not find distrustful locals protecting their waves from visitors. They are friendly and kind to the scarce surfers in their waters.

T-Land - The T-Land is the main Rote´s wave. It is one of the longest (600ft-1.200ft) and most perfect waves in Indonesia. Its quality and consistency allows you to surf from 2ft (0,5m) to 15ft (5m). It has three sections with different levels of difficulty. It is often compared with G-Land, more accessible and maneuverable. Off-shore wind during dry season. With so many hours of surf, you will fulfill your dream of surfing just with your friends. T-Land Resort offers you the best location for accessing the wave. The Brommie- Located in the Nembrala bay this is a shorter and more intense right. It has a fast take-off and brakes on reef ending in a deep water canal. It is at its best at low tide but it can break at high tide with a swell.

Boa- This right peak is 10 mints away by motorbike or similar, it can be reached by boat too. This is a powerful wave with a fast take off and a good tube section. It breaks at mid tide. It is best with mild wind, early in the morning and just after the sunset. It's rare to find people riding it.

Suckies - Suckies also known as Sucky Mamas or Peanuts, it´s 10 minutes by boat, located in Fedok Village. A short, intense and powerful right-wave. Very funny with good tubes, breaking at half and high tide. You´ll hardly find anybody there.

Do’o - Do’o is boat access only. It takes about 20 minutes fromVilla Santai. An uninhabited island with a hollow right, breaking off the end of a sharp, shallow coral reef. It breaks at mid tide. it’s best surfed with onshore wind at Nemberala. This is for the expert surfer only.

Squillers - In the same Nemberala beach, we find a safe and funny wave, perfect for beginners. A right and left wave breaking at half and high tide.

Other Activities

Surf transfers to T-land are included in your Villa Santai rate. You will be shuttled to and from T-land in our custom built 25 Ft, fibreglass boat, outer island surf trips and fishing excursions can be arranged on request at an extra cost, and depending on prevailing weather conditions. After 20 years of surfing and fishing these waters your Manager and Surf Guide has got it covered on where to go.

Mountain bikes and snorkelling gear are provided for you to explore the island and underwater sea life. Motor bike hire can be arranged on request as can island tours by motor vehicle (fees apply). Massage can be arranged on request (fees apply).

No doubt surfing is a very popular activity with majority of our guest, but here at Villa Santai we also offer Fishing Charters as well.
